The transmitter HDMI dongle needs power to work. You need a device that has an HDMI socket (for the HDMI dangle to plug into) as well as a 5V USB type power socket. See photo I posted earlier for details.

Does anyone know if this will work with the new Nexux 7?

I could see this being a useful way to connect an Android tablet (such as a Toshiba Thrive) to a TV. The Thrive has a full size HDMI port and full size USB port. I am not sure if the Thrive's USB port provides enough power, though.

True. The computer is already wireless, then another wireless device, and the throughput drops trying to stream video...Naah ... I'll stick with the 25ft Cat5 and HDMI. Raised it to $10, total.

No way. I have one and there's no HDMI output, only microUSB. Plus no USB port to power the dongle.

Now, I have a Toshiba THRiVE too, which has full-size HDMI and a full-size USB...any thoughts on whether this would work on that?

Sounds like might be a great way to avoid having a cord dragged across the den every time I wanted to port video from the THRiVE to the TV (which works great).
