So - anyone know whether this is compatible with the Motorola Atrix 2? The charger part won't be, but the write up makes me think it might work to hold and speak on the phone via bluetooth, since it says "and other phones"...?

looks cool. I don't make many calls and I don't have an iphone, so it's not for me. but I can see this being more comfortable to use at a desk when you're always on calls and don't want speakerphone

ugh, I came back to try and find a quality post but this just makes me really feel uncomfortable. I'm embarrassed for tech.woot and the phone.

Sorry tech.woot I'm going to sit this one out. I'm feeling awkward already, see ya later.

I realize this product enables something never before possible with a cell phone: a slam-the-phone-down hang up on somebody.

It might be nice to have, but I don't want to peel the Otterbox case off my iPhone every time I want to use it. Doesn't look like the dock area leaves quite enough clearance to dock with the case on. Anyone have experience with this?

Thanks for this link. Anything that someone describes as counterintuitive is a problem waiting to happen. I will look for something else to buy.

ThinkGeek has one but it is just the handset part, no base, and no buttons on the handset, same price

This will be useless once the new iPhones come out this fall. Will be taller and have smaller dock connector.

I got me one of the el cheapo coiled wire retro phone handsets off eBay. It works just fine, plus I'm gonna feel less guilty than I would with a more expensive BT version when I smash it against a desk the next time I spend 1 hour on hold for a customer service rep who ends up disconnecting the call.

That was my concern too, especially since, you know, the interface port ends up being a little recessed.

I bought that in 2007 and had bad luck with it...sent it back to think geek. I had a Motorola Razr at the time, though. Hopefully the iPhone 4S I have now does better with Bluetooth accessories.

There's an app for that...

Sad that so many haters out there see the iPhone and instantly get pissed at woot. This looks like a cool device and I am tempted, 1 because it works with VOIP, so my OOMA can run it, don't have to have the phone, 2 it's bluetooth compatible so even if I don't have an iPhone I can still use the handset and play music from it, and 3 I currently do have an iPhone and though I plan on moving carriers and depending on what the 5 delivers I may change phones too - it'll still work with whatever I get. I can't imagine it'd be too hard to fashion up some sort of charging cable and ditch the 30 pin connector if I went sans i in my phone.

I guess haters gotta hate, but I think this is a pretty cool little device. MY main question is what kind of range does it have? Some bluetooth are good for about 20-30 feet and some will get up near 75. If I was going to put this in my house, I'd want it to reach a bit further than 20-30 feet.

Let's see the quality impulse buys!

For this to be a true retro experience, it needs to be corded and disconnect you from the internet every time you use it.

Oh, how I miss the days of woot selling one item a day.

That being said, I am highly tempted to get this. I only wish it did have an option to attach a chord to it, so my boss can think that I'm using the landline phone and not my cell phone.

Great concept. When you get home and your battery is dead, you can slap it into this deal and keep using it wirelessly while it's changing.

It needs an app that will display wallpaper while charging - wall paper that looks like an old dial phone.

I'd love one if they made if not iPhone specific. I have a phone with bluetooth and a MicroUSB charger, and if they could only make charging via MicroUSB a thing, I'd be all over this. I miss a lot of phone calls when I forget to change my phone off vibrate after a long day of meetings.

Then you can just use the Bluetooth connection instead. Since I have the Otterbox case, I purchased a little extension cord so that I can plug in to iPhone enabled devices without removing the case. I suspect those cords are going to be very popular when the new iPhone comes out.
