Have you ever tried remembering all the stuff you did on your computer? It's hard! That's why you need memory cards, USB sticks, and Solid State Drives from Corsair to help ease the burden. After all, your brain's already full of lots of important things like the Golden Girls theme song and the names of all 151 original Pokemon. You can't afford to risk losing some of that! Corsair official site
USB sticks are so handy - how did we ever get by without them? What do you think of Corsair and what are your experiences with these products?
that 32gb is tempting ...

But, refurbished? What can that mean other than repairing harsh, physical damage to the device??

I only had experience with the first series of these drives. I wasnt impressed with Corsairs build quality or their support. Both were lacking, considering how highly regarded I thought the products they made prior to that incident, I wont buy another.
USB 3.0 less than a dollar a GB finaly a stick that looks perfect...except for how ugly it is.
I WANT to buy the ssd but I only use macs and corsair firmware updates seem to be allergic to apple.
Newegg comments reveal multiple people with drives going dead after a couple months. (3 stars) I was planning to nab one of these but am now very hesitant.

Were those reviews based on new or post-refurb drives?
New or post refurbished doesn't change the fact 30 days doesn't cover the observed time to failure.

If the observed time to failure was for non-refurbished drives then those reviews don't really apply here. Maybe the refurbishing process makes 'em last 5 years now. Any reviews on these refurbished drives?
I wouldn't jump on either SSD with the way prices are coming down on new retail drives. You can get a 120/128GB for $80-$90 from OCZ, Samsung, Crucial. A 240/256GB for $140-160. However, I think I'm in for a 16GB 3.0 USB drive. They're $19.00 new and I feel a lot safer with a refurbed USB drive than a SSD.
Just once I wish the 32GB 3.0 flash-drives would last long enough for me to wake up and buy one!! They're always sold out by that time!
And these are back again. More proof that "sold out" doesn't really mean sold out. It just means the sale has been up long enough and we don't want people to figure out we're no longer a "deal-a-day" type of website, but rather a regular retailer in sheep's clothing. Maybe you should put up the Bazooka equipment again? Or the shooting targets? Or the Hydration packs? Or the.... you get the picture. Sorry Woot. But it's true.
i dont need it.... so i bought three
I bought 2 of the 16gb on NewEgg and both failed after about 3 mos. Almost exactly at the same time. Computers just stopped recognizing them and if it did recognize it, it wanted to format it. Same thing on 5 different computers...just be warned.
Bought this refurb. model a year ago through tigerdirect. The drive died on me a month ago. Although this was used as a secondary to the main OS drive, I had my users data (itunes settings), games, other programs lost completely. Catastrophic failure, no warning or sign. Don't buy this. Spend a little more and get a new one with warranty and data recovery option.

um, yeah.. I still come by to say hello and see if I can't live without something, I'm mostly here for the Shirts and the Wine anymore.. I remember the glory days, when seeing the flash of the woot-off lights actually meant something other than a rotation of the floor stock... do they even do the Brigade of Campers any more. Now I have to go to bed sad.
Horrible experiences with this company concerning a rebate from last December. 0 customer service.

I have an 8GB Corsair USB 3.0 Flash Voyager. I used it for ReadyBoost for awhile, now it has Ubuntu on it for a portable OS. It has performed well for me thus far, but I am always leery of refurb memory devices.
So tempted for the 64 GB model...
Ah, fiddlesticks! I missed out on the Corsair Survivor GT drive. I saw it available this morning but I didn't have time to buy it before heading into an extended training session that lasted all day. My existing Corsair Suvivor is a non-GT, 32GB USB 2.0 model and I've not had any problems with it. From what I've read, Corsair has great customer service, even going so far as shipping free replacement parts for their USB drives, like rubber washers if you should ever lose them or if they wear out. I'm hoping Woot will offer more of the Corsair Survivor GT drives in the future. I'd be happy with the USB 3.0 Survivor models too, but prefer the GT variant for their read/write performance.
Hard-drives are much cheaper for a lot more storage (TBs). So, where do you use these external SSDs except to backup your files? Pls educate me.
Then go to another site? Not hard to do. The main deal is a daily deal, adding side deals that run for a time period doesn't change the premise of the site. Another person that can't handle anything changing.
I paid for overnight shipping on the 256GB SSD. The FedEx tracking says that it was delivered on my front doorstep yesterday at 11:01am ... I am yet to find my package Has anyone else every had to deal with this? What did you have to do? I checked with those who live nearby to make sure it wasn't dropped off with them by mistake, no luck though. UPDATE: After talking to FedEx, they said that the package was mis delivered to a house a few streets down. Somehow it took 3 days and notes from both the delivery driver and I to get them to give it up...

I can't think of one instance where "post refurb" any product could be expected to be MORE reliable than a new one of the same make/model. Hard drives, even less so.

This could be the case if part of the refurb process was revising a previous issue.
Bought the 16gb 3.0 flash drive, died after three months, got a replacement and the replacement died 3 months after that. They only offer to send a replacement. I asked for a different model and they sent me TWO of the same model. I'm currently selling them on amazon. I'm staying away from these.

These are actually internal 2.5in drives (that means they'll fit fine in a laptop, they won't fit in the standard desktop 3.5in drive bay, but you can get a 3.5in to 2.5in mounting bracket or just set the SSD in the bottom of your case (because they have no moving parts, there's no problem in doing this)). The main advantage of an SSD is they're much faster than a standard mechanical HDD. So when you install something to it, it will load up much faster. Most people put their OS on it, making their computers boot up a lot quicker. Programs will also load up really fast (small programs are instantaneous). Things that normally take a while to load, like loading a map in a video game, that take 60 sec might only take 15 with an SSD. For laptops, an SSD is nice because it is silent, doesn't generate heat, and doesn't use much power increasing battery life.

call fedex and have them verify the delivery, sometimes they acidentaly take them to the wrong place, after that (or at the same time) send a note to woots service@woot.com and let them know you can't find the package. Woot customer service is always fantastic, unless you're rude, in which case I don't know what would happen...
120GB SSD failed after 5 days of use
uberfrat wrote:120GB SSD failed after 5 days of use
OUCH. Had you put anything on it yet?
mine just failed as well! It is only sometimes recognized and when it is, the drive refuses to be formatted. I've tried with both the Ubuntu and Win7 install disks :\ this is incredibly disappointing on the parts of both Woot and Corsair as they have succeeded in eating my money and time.
