As a lifelong fan of both the Phillies and the Eagles, I can't tell whether to be offended or flattered by today's write-up.

Yes, I can. It's awesome! I'm actually going to share it on Facebook. ;)

I have these batteries and they are terrible. They don't hold a charge for future use so you have to charge before each use.

popmaster wrote:this is a great deal, and these will last practically forever, just make sure to fully use the charge in the battery before recharging, and to not over charge ( any remotely decent charger will stop charging when they are fully charged)
I bought MY charger off of tigerdirect last year, and it works great( it has a memory reset feature that in a sense cleans up the battery internally so it holds a charge better)
here is a link to their battery chargers : http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=2589&name=Chargers

and I recommend not going cheap, a good charger will elongate the life of your batteries and in the long haul save you money!

Those look like decent prices on chargers. But, I've been boycotting TigerDirect since 1998 when they did me dirty on a PC purchase.

I'll have to look elsewhere.

Has anyone ever used the Lithium rechargeable AA,AAA batteries? These cells are 3.2 volts instead of 1.5 volts, but they talk about using them with a dummy AA,AAA battery in series. So basically if your requirement was for 4XAA,AAA you would use 2 of these 3.2v batteries + 2 of the dummy batteries.

Here is an example of what I am talking about, but these are only 600mAH capacity

Ok, I understand the green part of that statement. Heck, I even have solar. I have the LaCrosse and Eneloops too.

What I haven't seen, is an approximate comparison of how much I pay in electricity for the recharging portion.

Anyone want to provide an idea of how much power it takes to charge 1 to 4 batteries? My offpeak price is approximately 0.0788 per kWh.

AA over at sellout (deals under $50) now

not the same, but AA rechargeable alkaline.

Note: should NOT be charged in the lacrosse charger mentioned earlier (or other NiMH/NiCad charger)

According to this article: http://www.chicagoshopping.com/deals/frugalista/chicago-shopping-how-much-does-it-cost-to-recharge-batteries,0,2215369.story less than a penny.

So if I buy this I still have to buy the charger?

Anyone know how much those typically cost?

If you read the specs, you'll see these are 800 mAhr cells. I some some NiMH cells from Powerex (AAA size) that are 1000 mAhr cells. They are excellent performers, but they are MUCH more expensive than these from Woot.
Yes... you can use your iGo charger for these (Woot) cells with no problem!

Last I looked, you could buy a charger and four AA batteries for about 20 bucks at Wally World.

Super-duper battery expert approved chargeres can run into the hundreds of dollars.

Maybe those of you who want double AA's should look over in sellout woot, mind find something special.

I think I'm gonna go for these, the double AA's with my igo charger work great for my xbox controller, and if it will charge these too I'll be good to go!

What do double-A's (AA) have to do with a 42" Vizio refurb?

Or if you meant 'deals' instead of 'sellout', well I didn't find any low-loss rechargeable AA's there either.

So enough of the oblique references already.

The text says these are good for throwing at your enemy. Are they also useful as batteries? I need to know the storage capacity before I order. So how many MaH are these things?

A lot of your walkie-talkies use AAA. I've been using Duracell in mine for a couple years.

Despite not using them all that much, they have yet to really let me down. Also, they charge in the cradles that came with them! Hold their charge pretty gosh darn good.

At least my batch of eight appear to do so...

I highly recommend a LaCrosse charger or similar smart charger if you decide to go to rechargeable. They allow charging at different speeds and will help your batteries last longer by preventing them from being overcharged or overheating.

The big use I have for AAA's is in my headlamp, which I and the rest of my family use for reading in bed at night. The problem I've had with using rechargeables is that they take 3 AAA batteries and all of the chargers I have found only charge 2 AAA's at a time. Very maddening.

If you ever had high drain devices, then you would know people are not blowing smoke like you are. These 2000mAh 'iPone of batteries' delivers roughly 2000 mA when discharging into an 1 amp load. Many of those 3000mAh batteries delivers only 1000 mA into the same load.
