Word to the wise, make sure to burn in this headphones for at least 40 hours before using them to get better sound quality. JLab has a burn-in soundtrack on their website that you can use: http://www.jlabaudio.com/burn.php.

I do not have this exact model from JLap (I have the J.FI natural wood ones) but the burning in of the headphones will make them sound a whole heck of a lot better better. And better prevent you from blowing them out soon after you getting them.

- Double and triple-flanged tips are not included. They offer the best fit and sound transmission for me. FYI, the earbuds need not be expensive to include them. MEE models, including ones I bought on Woot for less than $10, have them.

- The plug is straight and not angled at 90 degrees. This makes it harder to place your MP3 player in a pocket. It also puts the plug and jack at much more strain. In fact, jack breakage is probably the most common problem in MP3 players.

Now I'm confused: Are the photos above of another product? Are those on techwoot! accurate/what would be received? ? All the pix on Amazon have similar/same as techwoot!

That is another product. He was illustrating his points.

magendaswede wrote:How do these JLab compare to Skullcandy? My daughter swears by Skullcandy and I've been able to get simple ones like Dub for $4.98 (no volume, no mic models, e.g.S2DUCZ-035 - Amazon link below) on clearance at Target. (I'm NOT an audiophile, just enjoy good sound that doesn't bother others.)

no comparison with skullcandy (much better). I am a somewhat seasoned earbud user, I have a pair of Sennheiser cans to compare to so I think I am a good judge of sound. I think the J3 are a good all purpose bud, strong on mid range and treble. They have some bass but not heavy at all. I actually prefer this. More punchy.

I found my skullcandy buds to be much more dull in their overall sound. I have had several pairs of both brands, have been buying Jlab only now for a couple of years. My average life expectancy is about a year with heavy use, daily with yardwork and pulling and twisting of cords. Some have been less, some more. My last skullcandy lasted about 2 months and I swore never again. I have a pair of the J4 and a pair of the waterproof MP3 players and love them both, but I actually prefer the feel of the J3 to the J4.

For 10$ I can't overstate how reasonable this is. skullcrappy at walmart cost 15 to 20. 20 is a pretty average price for these, not 50 or 60

I bought the J2 which were great for the price - the bought the J3 for more money thinking the quality would be even better - beware the J3 has horrible cord noise... only way to tolerate is to wrap around the back of your ears.

Just FYI after 2 days of use the left earbud is shorting and giving my ears uncomfortable little shocks. So sad

Yikes. Zaps aren't good. You can contact JBL for help through their 1-year warranty or email service@woot.com for some options.

Got these J3 buds about 2 weeks ago. Great construction, look, and I really like the case.

But I give a thumbs down on sound quality. I've sampled on three different systems and two formats (analog source and mp3). They are flat! Mids are crap. Decent high end, but if you give them any power, it all washes out. My $25 Sennheiser buds blow these away.

Looks like I spent 15 bucks for a fancy JLab case.

I was shocked [badpungroan] when after light use, my right earbud began zapping me.

I actually couldn't freaking believe it - so I waited to see if it'd happen again. Then again. Then...

Five minutes later, and with half the hair on my head straight up, I can confirm these are definitely shocking.

Unbelievable...

We can process Paypal again! Kinda!

Not sure if you should post that? This slightly-nsfw-flowchart will help.
