Poll: A new scientific procedure allows you to customize your child before they’re born: eye color, hair color, height, muscle mass, etc. Would you try to make the “perfect baby?”
  • 22.9% - Absolutely. If I can prevent my kid from being as messed up as me, it’s worth it. Can I give them wings, too? 267
  • 54.4% - I would want to prevent any nasty genetic diseases, but nothing else. 633
  • 22.7% - No. It ruins the beauty of the whole thing. Let things work out how they may. 264

Well, how do you fare compared to the Zeitgeist? Chat up your fellow wooters and let us know how lame this poll was or what obvious choices we missed. For example: Was this poll a) STUPID, b) DUMB, c) POINTLESS or d) ALL OF THE ABOVE?

I would make them have red hair. I've always wanted red headed babies!

Have you ever seen the movie GATTACA? This pretty much happens and does not turn out well. Diversity is good, we need to let nature do its thing.

I am not going to play God. He knits us in our mother's wombs and the what He puts together He prepares for His use. We are His creations.

Our unique set is there for us and others.

The mixture of magnificence and frailty in one body is what I love about us all. We can create and move others beyond the confines of reality, and then we need to take a restroom break. It's that earthen vessel/cracker jack/cereal prize thing.

It's also strange to think that I'd be molding my children to my whimsy while they're the ones who will embody the traits.

In Biology class back in high school we had serious discussions about what the repercussions from "Designer Babies" could be.

It could potentially divide the human race into rich and poor, the rich being genetically altered to be beautiful and healthy. The rest would be shunned and cast into darkness to create a new society.
