Mixed reviews, 3.5 average on both Amazon and Panasonic's website.

Another phone with no headset jack. At least it is listed in the specs.

Boo. Speakerphone is not a substitute for long conference calls! Boo I say!

Is it compatible with TGA401?

I have a similar set (that looks just like this) and my phones DO have a headset jack. Even though the description for this one says no headset jack, they come with the clip attachment - why? I doubt speakerphone would work very well if I clipped the phone to my waistband...

Very perplexing, indeed.

can I add handsets from other brands of phones to this unit?

Or can I buy 2 of these phones and make all 6 handsets contact a central base?

69.99 NEW over at amazon The Reviews are all across the board:

54
44
24
26
32

Bad reviews were because it didn't come with a headset like amazon promised (not the products fault) and because numbers smeared off the phone in weeks, no speed dial, small screen, bad battery life.

Pretty much, you get what you pay for on this system.

Most of the reviews came from people that paid at least 60 dollars for this, maybe you'll be happy with it at 30, and maybe since these are refurbs, the issue with the numbers rubbing off is fixed.

Thats some very wishful thinking on my part though.

With the Uniden sale going on I was thinking "Gee, I could really use a Panasonic DECT 6.0 Plus with 3 handsets sale right now" (no really, I'm not kidding, this is exactly what I want) and I was very excited to see this. BUT reading the reviews on Amazon I'm a little worried as the button labels appear to wear off very easily and the champagne color isn't so great anyway. Plus several reviewers commented negatively on the sound quality.

I'm torn, as I really like Panasonic phones and have bought four series (two for our own use, one for my parents, and one for my in-laws). All have been that charcoal grey color which seems to last for years. I also use the speakerphone a lot for conference calls so the sound has to be good.

Decisions decisions...

I'm a gadget guy and a computer nerd so I love seeing what shows up on tech.woot every day. But, uh, I think this one belongs in 90s.woot.com, which maybe this is a test launch for?

I don't know, oh, wait - it has caller ID. My bad, this is totally technology. Now if I could just figure out where a phone jack is around here... and anyone have recommendations on a good land-line service? :p

And to think I just got my grandparents a new 2 handset set off Amazon. Then again they don't really need 3 and it was a brand new set...

Oh well.

Have you ever heard of VoIP? Many people have VoIP systems at home, and cordless phones work well with VoIP hardware.

I stayed up for this?!?

lol. we had voip....5 or 6 years ago. the only person i know left who has a landline is 1 grandmother, and that only because shes so far out in the boonies that she doesn't get cell or broadband service.

Seriously tech woot. fail. home or vanilla woot maybe, but i have higher expectations of you. (mostly they've been disappointed since launch, but i keep hoping)

I see it only comes with one telephone wire... does only the base one need to be plugged into the phone jack? or must you provide your own wire(s) for any other one(s) you wish to add?

Only the main base needs to be wired, the rest are wireless off the base. Not this brand, but I have a handset in my barn that reads off the main base.

Here's a link to Panasonic's site regarding this item. It'll give you an Overview, Tech Specs, Reviews, FAQs, Accessories, Owner's Manual and Warranty/Care links:

http://shop.panasonic.com/shop/model/kx-tg4023n?t=overview

The only thing I don't like about this set is that you can't "Call Block" calls from your Caller ID. I can get around that from blocking them at my ISP website voice features, though.

As stated above, there are mixed reviews about this set, but hey, at thirty bucks? I'm IN!

As usual, whenever there's a phone on sale there go the comments on why people would ever have a landline.

Well, folks, there's two good reasons.

First, lots of people are live in areas where there's no mobile phone coverage.

Second, lots of people call people internationally. Our Vonage home phone gives us free calls to the UK. If I tried that with my VZ mobile phone I'd be paying hundreds of dollars a month in long distance charges.

Just saying.

We're using Panasonic wireless phones at home. I love the caller blocking feature - one ring and they're gone.

Woot! Now 100+ woots for me!
That's 87 woots (Including Twelve Bats On Crack!), 12 Sellout.woots, 8 wine.woots and 4 kids.woots, and finally, 2 shirt.woots!

I have a 3rd reason...Not every area offers Enhanced 911 service, and if you have any kind of health issues, small children or paranoia it's nice to have a landline with reliable 911.

That said, this deal doesn't sound that great based on user reviews.

I already have 3 handsets from woot last time with different brand:

If I bought other 3, can they intercom each other?

I have another model Panasonic DECT 6.0 plus phone. Can I use the 2 remote handsets from this unit with my existing set-up?

I have two entirely different Panasonic cordless phones. The old one was terrific but seems to be losing strength/range so I was thinking of replacing it. The newer one has a very short range but seems to be holding up okay. However, they both include a mute button which this does not. I'll have to pass, for now.

I have the Panasonic TGA101 and 103 family rather than this one, but I reviewed the Owner's Manual. For any DECT set, you need 1 base (TGA103 in my case) , and then 1-6 handsets (TGA101 for me). So you could get this base station plus 3 handsets, and later purchase just more handsets. Each handset should come with its own recharging cradle, except for the one that sits on the base (answering machine, controller, phone jack connector, and charger in one). Only the base needs to be near a phone jack, and this is how we plan to switch to VOIP, connecting the base to whatever VOIP connector we get and disconnecting the AT&T line on the exterior of the house.

For the DECT line, you input your phonebook listing into the handset on the base, and it is then available from any of the connected handsets. Also, they sound very clear and support intercom calling set-to-set. Lastly, Panasonic sells over-priced replacement batteries, but you can use standard NiMH AAA rechargeable batteries, as the charging cradles match fine.

This particular model does not offer the headphone jack nor Bluetooth, so the offered belt clip if just for carrying I suppose.

Why does the stats list here say there is no mute or flash button but the owners manual linked to above shows both buttons?

I have a fourth reason. ADT requires a land line to monitor their alarm system in my house. Until ADT gets their act together and offers IP addressable alarm monitoring equipment, I'll be stuck with a land line. Handy unintended consequence: I have a "throwaway" number I can give to retailers and political parties.

Ah, another rectangular phone! Looks to be in violation of Apple's rectangular phone patent.

ADT doesn't do IP, but they do have a cellular-based service. As I recall, it costs somewhat more than their regular service, but then you don't have to pay for a landline anymore. It also has the added benefit that the burglars can't just cut the landline to disable the alarm before breaking in.

From Panasonic website:

Jose M.: Thank you for contacting Panasonic today, How may I help you?
Dean: Can I buy 2 of these phone systems and link them all to the same base station?

Jose M.: Hello, Dean.
Dean: I'd like to have 5 or 6 handsets and was wondering if 2 of these systems would do the trick.
Jose M.: Yes, you can. to just one base
Jose M.: But the other base is not needed
Dean:
Would the other base act as a charging station or would it interfere with the system. In other words - just don't use the other base?
Jose M.: You could just use it as a charger
Dean: ok thanks.
Jose M.: Just don't connect it to the phone line
Dean: Ok. I appreciate your help.

I bought this phone. It terrible. I could not be understood all the time and it cut out often when I was close to the base. There is a reason why this deal seems so good. Don't do it.

This is one of the main reasons that I really like this brand of phone. So far I have not needed to replace the supplied AAA rechargeable batteries on my older Panasonic phones but it will be a LOT cheaper to do so when I have to than having to try to find a specialized model/set!

Another thing I like about Panasonic is their customer service. My phones are way out of warranty but I just called to ask about the secret of turning off the base ringer (another complaint of some Amazon users). It isnt listed in the manual but you just have to hold down the down volume arrow button until you hear two beeps on the main base and that should turn off the ringer on all the bases. Dont know why they dont put it in the manual but it is great that Panasonic will pick up the phone for a customer with a very old phone and answer questions.

p.s. I asked about the phones print coming off (another big Amazon complaint) and was told that it must have been fixed as they have not heard of that issue with todays phone being sold.

With all due respect, you might be surprised to know that there are still some of us that enjoy a real conversation rather than texting non-stop to update a ton of acquaintances on every trivial move we make. My husband and I live in the country where cell phone service is iffy and VoIP isn't available yet. For those of us who always seem to be in the wrong room or the wrong floor when the phone rings, this is pretty handy. Sorry but not all of us feel the need to live with our cell phones permanently attached to our butts. Try having a real live conversation sometime. You might even find that you like it!

Okay, I just got this phone system and it's installed and so far so good.

Everything I've gotten from Woot! prior to this has been great and I've been very pleased.

HOWEVER ... these refurbished phones had big ol nasty stickers on eacn and every one of them ... that did not peel off easily and left a gummy mess behind that took considerable time and elbow grease to clean up. By the time I got to the third phone I was seriously considering hunting down the Woot! monkeys and macheting them into tartare just because of the aggravation.

Phones appear to work fine ... so far. MUCH better sound quality than my old Uniden set and about five times longer battery life. As for the other complaints, let's see.

But man... those labels ... not pleased.

Sorry about the stickers. Those would have come from the company that did the refurbishing, not our monkeys. We can't trust them with stickers because they'd be sticking them up all over the building.
