Perfect for if you bought the bluetooth Mouse from a couple days ago! I wonder if woot did this on purpose... (of course they did)

Disregard this, I'm a maroon.

Picked two of these up on clearance at Target last year for $17 each. A few of the Android specific keys don't work on my Acer A500, no big deal though. It fits a tablet carrying case I picked up perfectly with the tablet stored in it as well.

Can you give some info on how it works? Others might appreciate it.

http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Wireless-Keyboard-Trackpad-Packaging/dp/B006291K7A $68.99 on Amazon, 4/5 stars(Out of 33 reviews currently).

This does have a touchpad. I've never been a big fan of bluetooth peripherals due to the intermittent disconnects that occur. I got to admit though, it could be very interesting to try to use at work or when I don't feel like typing on my Razr MAXX.

From the reviews I've read, the biggest annoyance is the disconnects that occur(partly to save battery). The keyboard is apparently more a "clickity-clack" keyboard than "silent."
A worry is the pull out trackpad. People feel that it could be more sturdy feeling, though most would say overall the build quality is good.

I think I'm in for one.

FWIW, about 3 weeks ago, I got the keyboard and the mouse from 1saleaday for $17.99 for both; with shipping it was $22.98. So you can probably do better for yourselves if you watch and wait.

That said, it's a lovely keyboard; did not pair with my Cydle, which was a piece of crap, but does with my laptop, my LG Optimus phone, and my ASUS TF300 Transformer.

The kb is responsive and works well. The mouse is really nice; I have a kb dock on order for the transformer, but I will still use the mouse with it; I really prefer them over trackpads.

Doesn't the trackpad take the place of the need for a mouse?

I've been looking to get one of these for a while. Awesome price!
I somehow doubt this is the same keyboard that went on clearance last year, that would have been a steal!

This will work wonders for anyone with a Motorola phone and a dock with lapdock capabilities and shoud be great for that HTPC you're about to build.

I also bought the BT mouse the other day, two actually, one was for my phone but I guess I'll have a spare now since this has a touchpad.
Woot!

Meh... other way around. I couldn't give a damn about the trackpad! I'm definitely getting one to go with the mouse I ordered the other day.

Don't get this keyboard, go for an iOS compatible one. Those usually have a home button, volume and other iPad or iPhone specific controls. Just get this for your pc.

I would like to use a BT keyboard with a HP TouchPad (also from Woot!) and Sony PS3.

Might someone who has personal experience using this MOTO BT keyboard with either of these two hosts comment on the following:

1) How well, solid, and consistent does this keyboard maintain connectivity with either of these two hosts, and

2) How well does the trackpad function with the HP TP, i.e. can a user hover a pointer to open a drop-down-on-hover menu, use two fingers to zoom-in/-out, etc.?

Thank you all in advance.

Anyone know if this keyboard would work with a PlayStation 3 or is that device connection strictly proprietary?

Sony makes a little USB keypad for the PS3, but it's tiny and clips over their controllers. This Motorola looks to be about the right size for us.

Thanks tons,

I have one of these as well as the mouse from before. The keys are nice and silence easy pushes. The key layout is -slightly- awkward, but you will quickly get used to it with use.

It has a power button that when pushed, will start searching for a device. Instead of an off-switch, it turns itself off if not used long enough.
Still though, I have used the same batteries for almost a year so far on low to moderate usage, without any issues. So the power scheme seems to work.

It is also sturdy but still pretty light. Very nice blue-tooth keyboard, and highly recommended.

Anyone know of a Bluetooth dongle that will work with the Raspberry Pi? This would be awesome for that!

A must have for any device that has Bluetooth.

I have the version before the track pad.. picked up at Target year and half ago for $17.
I keep it in my back pack with my bt mouse.. perfect for hooking the lap top up to a projector or hd tv and having the range to sit anywhere.

I have also used it on the ps3 quite frequently.
As I recall that was alittle trickier than just pc or mobile/tab.

Anyway on of my best spontaneouspurchases.

Great design and size. Very light weight but sturdy. Awesome battery life.

That's a valid question.

My tablet (I have a Xoom) and keyboard together take up less purse space than an actual laptop would, and have better battery life. Also, it's more "modular" in that you can choose whether to take the keyboard with you or save space and do without.

Given that bluetooth keyboards like this are pretty cheap, it's not a bad solution for people who only occasionally need a full keyboard and otherwise benefit more from the extra portability of a tablet.

If someone hauls the keyboard everywhere and always uses it, then, yeah, maybe they'd have been better off with a netbook or something.

It's a percentage thing. My wife and son are both students, so they use their laptops to create output so much more often than I do. I need to break out my keyboard once a month or so. So, my Tab 2 7 or my Touchpad is much more efficient for browsing, short emails, or watching a movie.

Any bluetooth usb dongle should work with the Pi. I use a logitech low profile dongle, and setup was a breeze. I haven't really tested the distance limits yet, as my Pi is usually just sitting on my desk so that people can be like "What's that?"

Nice.

And thanks for the video review link posted earlier.

Does abyone know, when used with a tablet (Xoom) can the keyboard/track pad be used to perform the unlock pattern? I have a a dock set up on my desk hooked up to the TV and think this could help but would like to not have to get up to unlock if it goes to sleep

I think the valid comparison is a table versus a nettop, not versus a laptop.

I'll tell you why I bought a tablet and yet I'm considering a BT keyboard for it (and for it alone; I'm not interesting in using the keyboard with my phone): Because BlackBerry makes a kickass tablet, but not a nettop (or laptop) -- so no decision to make.

I'm also wondering this, since even if I did like trackpads -- which I don't, particularly -- the location of this one seems to me to be likely to get in the way.

Another commenter says the opposite: that this in NOT a silent keyboard. Are you certain you have the same model?

geredeth wrote:The key layout is -slightly- awkward, but you will quickly get used to it with use.

Can you elaborate on this? My desire is for a full-size keyboard -- which this purports to be -- because I find condensed keyboards to be cramped and little better, if at all, than the on-screen keyboard they're replacing. So I'm wondering if the awkwardness you mention is due to cramped or undersized keys?

Still no comments on how well the touch pad performs on Android devices? Just interested to know if it works.
