Poll: Favorite subatomic particle? (Higg’s B excluded—too faddish)
  • 23.1% - Electron 268
  • 17.8% - Proton 207
  • 5.1% - Gluon 59
  • 28.2% - Tachyon 327
  • 23.6% - Neutrino 274
  • 2.2% - Another one I’ll mention in the comments 25

Well, how do you fare compared to the Zeitgeist? Chat up your fellow wooters and let us know how lame this poll was or what obvious choices we missed. For example: Was this poll a) STUPID, b) DUMB, c) POINTLESS or d) ALL OF THE ABOVE?

Bartender says "hey, we don't serve your kind here". A tachyon walks into a bar.

Not sure what all of these little buggers do, but I know Geordi liked using Tachyons a lot.

Tachyon because it is so tacky.

Nothing is free but if you are lucky it can be inexpensive.

I've always been partial to quarks. Also, my brother and I have a running goof where if you walk into a conversation halfway you ask, "Are you guys talking about quarks?". They never are.

A duck's quark does not echo. That is why it is my favorite.

Philote, because without those the Philotic Parallax Instantaneous Communicator wouldn't work.

My Favorite subatomic particle is the one that's paying the bills right now.

When you design radiation detectors you learn that while all sub atomic particles are cool, the ones that earn you a sack of cash are the coolest at the time.

FYI: right now it's the Neutrino with the indicators for Dark Matter in a close second. A distant third is the particles that are given off by the things that frighten people the most, there just isn't enough fear to generate a whole lot of overtime right now, you people need to be more afraid and call your government and tell them how afraid you are.

Which one gets mentioned most on Star Trek? Okay, vote for that one.

Electrons, because my high school chemistry teacher said they were like Mick Jagger and can't get no satisfaction.

Q: Why did the tachyon cross the road? A: Because it was on the other side.

Excitons - composite particles made up of an electron and a “hole” left by a missing electron in a semiconductor.

Obligatory Physics joke

Heisenberg and Schrodinger are pulled over by a cop. Cop says "do you know how fast you were going?' Heisenberg says "no, but I can tell you exactly where we are." Then the cop asks to look in the trunk, and does so. He says "Did you know that you have a dead cat in here?" Shroedinger says "well, now it is!"

It's gotta be the Neutrinos. Those three cats from Dimension X helped the TMNT on more than one crazy adventure against Krang and Shredder.

Right! Protrons are like [Enter most epic rock band of all time]. Electrons are just their roadies.

You're all barking up the wrong tree. Take it from a particle physicist: "stop squarks" are where it's at.

(Yes, that's an actual theorized particle).
