Phone. Phone. Phone. Phone.

That was INCREDIBLY difficult to read. LOL

OK, I need to make sure I am reading this correctly. DOes this really say that this unit can be hooked up to my landline AND my iPhone (old technology, not the 5) AT THE SAME TIME? And since it has a DC adapter, can it be hooked up to my CAR?

If this is true, I may be in for several!

Why not go with a telegraph machine instead, just to be even cooler?

Pretty sure the DC is one that goes into a wall outlet, its pictured.

Why would you want to try using this in a car?

I got this last woot around and I like the substantial hand piece because I can't hold my iPhone with my shoulder and I'm too deaf to use my phone on speaker. I have had a little trouble with it staying synced if I leave the room and come back (about 20 feet) which is a little bit of a problem because I'm a phone pacer. It was a decent buy, looks neat, just have to stop pacing.

Got this in the last Biology or Chemistry sale (the one that lasted like 10 minutes before everything was sold out). Anyway, the phone is a pretty decent wireless phone for the landline, but I have yet to sync it up to a bluetooth capable phone (got an Ipod and can charge it with the connection, but my phones are always Androids). I figure that if you need to resync it, there's a function for that somewhere that should be easy to follow. The nice thing is that there's a button on the base unit that will send out a signal to find the receiver end when it might have not been put back on to charge. Pretty standard of wireless landline phones, but was surprised this little device came with one.

I'm a klutz. I have an Otter Box. This phone can't be used with the Otter Box on. I'm not adept enough to remove the Otter Box every time I come home. Got it in the July sale and it works fine for receiving calls, but I have so few landline calls, what's the point?

Bought this from the last time this was on woot. Looks cool but connector to iPhone3 is loose and need to wiggle it around for it to charge. Does not charge iPhone4. There's a connector for a landline, but I don't use it.

I have a Bluetooth dock with modern cordless handsets but it only works with cellphones and uses phone minutes. Am I correct that this one will pair with any Bluetooth device including iPads and work using VoIP? It would be great if I could use this to use my Pinger number as a true home phone.

Here lies another useless piece of crap you don't need so you can join the 'retro' movement.

I grew up with one of those bell phones provided by the phone company and they were horrible. Why on earth would I want to be reminded of them? While you're at it go ahead and buy on of those stupid shoulder cushions for it. Then for true authenticity make sure you hook a giant spiral cord to it thats about 25 feet long when stretched and tape the cover on the ear side of the handset.

.rev - 294.unique.woots / 529.total.items - woot is where the crap is.

No. The iPhone 5 doesn't have the 30 pin connector. There are adapters available for $30.

I recently bought this and love it but there are a couple of issues: first, you have to remove your iphone case or it won't fit snugly enough to charge. I've quit using my case because I love this charger. Also, I haven't quite gotten the hang of using the handset so I have to remove my phone from the base to talk. I love that I can always find my phone and charger when I'm home and everyone that sees it loves it and asks where I got it.

I don't have a landline but it does come with a connector for a landline and the handset has a keypad for use as a landline. I don't know if you'd want to use this in your car, it's pretty big and clunky, in a cool way.

I use it with this VOIP adapter through the landline connection, and it sounds better than my cell phone out here at the edge of civilization.

Yeah, if you found the appropriate adapter, you could probably hook it up to your car.

The bluetooth is a little bit wonky, and doesn't reconnect like it should. Maybe it's me.

I have been downsizing everything in my life, this phone looks huge! No novelty item is worth the space this phone would take up or the space it will take up in a landfill when it breaks or become obsolete in a month or 2... just seems strange to tether your cell phone to yet another phone... my phone has awesome speakers so I do not need it for that... nope I am not in for one.

Your house uses AC power, or you are off the grid and using batteries.

Thanks to everyone for the answers. As for why use it in a car, why not? Why buy a phone that looks like the one your grandparents used?

I didn't like the idea of stocking up on batteries for yet another gadget if we get a hurricane, but yes, it would be a space hog in a car.

Is this with or without your phone case?

I bought one in July. No phone with a protective case will fit into the spot designed for the Iphone, therefore the connector will not plug into the Iphone. I tried mine and several different phones with different cases. Because it won't fit the connector will not engage the Iphone, so, for me a total waste of money. Seems well made otherwise but I could never use it.

This is the brilliance of Apple, make a phone 20% thinner so that it can't support the standard connector any longer, so the battery can be smaller since it has to be thinner-so that the bigger screen, faster processor and the LTE will drain it faster. If Apple was more concerned with usefulness of their devices vs aesthetics they would have maintained the thickness of their device to provide for a larger battery. Apple was way over due for a bigger screen- but this was the only positive that came over on the redesign. For anyone that uses their Iphone as an actual smartphone- they will burn through this battery in not time during the day- better hope your phone is near a charging device. Maybe you can get one of those external battery cases that will make your phone like 3x as thick. I guess that is one way to sell peripherals. The new Iphone is a fail, except for the bigger screen.

Given that using a hand-held phone while driving is illegal in many states, probably not so cool.

I bought this phone. At first it worked great! I had a hard time working out how to make it work, the directions were a bit lax. But after 2 weeks of using it, my iphone won't charge anymore. It says the device is not compatible. So Im trying to send mine back.

"with this in your hand" is what the OP wants, so the speakerphone option is irrevelant to him.
