Beware. I bought two the last time out. The first time I used it, I tested it, recorded several videos, pictures etc. I went to an event and boom, it reset/reformated and all the videos except 2 that I took at that event were gone. I didn't misuse it, I didn't accidentally delete it. And the best part is. . . Woot still hasn't responded to my concerns, no response email nada, zip.

First question was how do I get warranty work done? Second was how to RMA it since I don't believe that the refurbished was refurbished properly. . .

So, buyer be ware. I've had good luck in the past with refurbished stuff on Woot, but this one I would pass on.

Thanks, I emailed a week ago. Resent through the website today. At this point I can't trust it (not woot but the bloggie)

I bought one last time and it's been awesome so far. Should I buy another one as a backup?

Silly person, that's the NON touch, older model. Woot! has the touch for sale, which is actually a really good deal. Makes me wish I waited for this instead of buying from 1SaleADay a while back.
Oh yeah, and 1SaleADay takes about two weeks to deliver.

Thanks Woot!

I bought this last time it was up. I purchased it as a comparison as we had just bought a video camera recommended by Apple. I returned the much more expensive and much more confusing the use camera and kept this little gem! It works great and is a fun little camera with good quality videos.

I got the 4gb version, which has been largely serviceable thus far. The only complaint I have is with the audio autoatic gain control, which can get wonky under adverse conditions.

real quick: Sorry, too much in a hurry. I posted 4GB below--model MHSTS10. The one tonight is the MHSTS20/B 8 GB. Corrections noted after me.

previous woots (for 4 GB model--sorry, my error earlier):
http://tech.woot.com/forums/viewpost.aspx?postid=5115233 $40

and 4 GB here
http://www.woot.com/forums/viewpost.aspx?postid=5072397

I hope CowboyDann doesn't mind me borrowing his posts on the 4 GB:

Check out this video. Sony Bloggie Sucks (as a video camera)

Here is the short version... (video uploaded, edited & rendered on HD export setting on iMac with iMovie '09)...

Full hd 1920 x 1080 resolution 30 fps = no zoom, big, but my ipod records better vids

720 hd 60 fps = reduced ambient light too much

720 hd 30 fps = ambient light better but clarity still sucks

In all settings you cannot close up on things & get a clear focus, 1920 x 1080 has no zoom capabilities; 4x digital zoom pixelates way too much; 360 degree recording attachment is a fad & probably included to help sell this piece of junk.

I'm gonna return this and get something else - thumbs down, I do not recommend the Sony Bloggie, it does not fit my needs.

Oh well - I hope this review helps.

Sorry there are just too many links for me to copy and paste and I am short on time tonight.

This is the 4hr, 8GB Bloggie. I'll get that fixed in the morning.

Here's the correct link for the manuals and such. The ones above are for the 4GB version.

And here's the Specifications with the correct recording times:

Recording and Playback Times (in Internal Media)(2ch) : MP4 format: 12M 1920x1080 (29.97p): 80 min. 6M 1280x720 (59.94p): 160 min. 4M 1280x720 (29.97p): 240 min.

Wait,

http://www.woot.com/forums/viewpost.aspx?postid=5072397

That was $40, two months ago, yet

http://www.woot.com/offers/sony-bloggie-touch-8gb-hd-camcorder-1

Was $50 two weeks ago?

What's the difference? Why was it $10 more than in the past?

My error above, that I've corrected now (sorry, too much of a hurry) was the links I posted were for the 4 GB MHSTS10 at $40, and you got the correct 8 GB MHSTS20/B model at $50 2 weeks ago (vs. $40 tonight):
http://www.woot.com/offers/sony-bloggie-touch-8gb-hd-camcorder-1

Your Thighness noted this above you and made the correction to the 8 GB model for tonight in the post above you.

I am not sure what people are looking for this thing to do. It is a small video camera and it does what it was intended to do. I bought this to capture quick video of my children. I take it everywhere you never know when they are going to do their "firsts". I love it, I have no problems, picture quality is fine. If you are looking for professional quality video for events then remember you get what you pay for. By no means am I saying this is bad playback. Just saying there is a difference between trying to shoot a film with this and take a quick home movie of your child walking.

@whatsamattaU...Always great information very helpful BUT all this rushing around you're giving me an anxiety attack. I've caught myself reading your posts in double time because I don't want to hold you up from your pending tasks! Slow down, you'll have a heart attack and then where do I go to get my product info?

I own a bloggie and for the money I have been very happy with the results. It does indeed do poorly in low light but at least mine has done much better indoors where there was good lighting than some of these reviews have stated. Outside, even in heavy overcast daylight, it works great and is ideal for a carry in the pocket camera that keeps you from missing shots and videos because you don't have your camcorder with you. The only real complaint I have about the Bloggies is, they have an internal battery that you can not replace yourself. At this price point, I did not let that stand in my way and cause me to reject the deal. I do have a refurb and so far, so good. Last month I picked up the 4GB model (MHS-TS10) here on woot and it was the same price so this 8GB model (MHS-TS1020)is a much better deal for the money. After seeing this offer my first thought was, I wish I had passed on the 4G last month so I could take this 8G deal today at the same price! What I think is also a good deal on this model can be found at B&H. They have what I consider a good offering on an all new in the box camera with some included accessories that include an extended warranty for $88.95. Granted that is a little more than double the price here but this is new and includes a two year extended warranty and accessories against a refurb. It can be found here,
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=745502&is=REG&Q=&A=details
At the same time this low price on the refurb has me thinking about taking this and giving my other 4G model to my son.

I have been trying to find the perfect mini camcorder and this might be close. Does anyone know if it can record while plugged in to the wall?

People are ALWAYS looking for what I call the "MFD" ("Magic Fairy Dust") camera that is very cheap, requires no talent to use, no effort to learn and ALWAYS produces the kinds of videos they see online or cable done by pros.

Maybe in a few years, but it will take a lot of AI to replace talent and planning.

acpress.com Not cute, but useful.

I must confess that I'm addicted to the small pocket-size cameras/camcorders and have managed to purchase several (about 8 or so) of different brands and abilities.

One feature that concerns me with this Sony Bloggie is the lack of expandable memory (SD card). There may be times, for example, when on vacation that 8gb of video space would not be enough without the ability to upload to an available computer prior to deleting from the camera. However for most situations, close to home, this would not be too much of an issue... it is something to consider, though.

Has anybody ever mounted one of these on a car windshield to record the action in the car?
