The Gizmodo Review said that

"They push out sound you'd expect from speakers that are much, much larger"

.

These are the Wirecutter's pick for best computer speakers: http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-computer-speakers-audyssey-media-speakers/ They're also recommended by Sound and Vision mag and CNet. And that's at $200. At only $80, they might as well be giving them away. If only I needed speakers...

edit: Ended up getting them

Inner FidelityWoot review that is pretty even handed. The auto turn off might make this a no go for me.

omgsomez0rz...

after i built a setup revolving my old overpriced vaio downstairs as a mobile workstation, i've been hating the fact that my jawbone boombox always screams out it's short on charge in the middle of the f'n night and scaring everyone.

this...this looks hella sleek and i'd have jumped on it based on looks alone but after checking reviews. IN41.

also, would seem from amazon's reviews that UNLIKE the equally attractive (perhaps slightly moreso) boombox...this is actually worth the original 200bone pricetag. yay for 80.

Pretty detailed comparison at Head-Fi against some other higher end desktop computer speakers. I'll give them a shot myself at $80

I'm currently using the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1's.....From most reviews, these seem like one-slick-deal for the money !

I was waiting for good deals between these or the AudioEngine A2's. For the price, these are a steal! The cheapest prior to this deal are open box units in eBay from authorized seller "onecall" for around $170.

The only negative I read from reviews is that the unit goes to sleep mode when there's no signal for a few minutes. You have to press the volume/power button again to get them to work.

This doesn't have a remote, so you either have to be beside it or walk over to where it is located to make volume changes.

Also, plan to place these not too close to a wall to allow the bass "speakers" in the back to work properly.

The good thing about these and the AudioEngine A2's is that they use speaker wires (can be found for cheap at monoprice.com for real oxygen-free copper wires - not the copper-coated aluminum from elsewhere for good price) so you can set them as close or as far apart as you want from each other.

I apologize for rambling, but for a new pair of the Audyssey Media Speakers for less than $100 including tax&shipping, these are a steal!

If you are thinking about buying these, check out this review first. It's very helpful.

Calling all Nerds! I need some advice. I have a pair of these, and I have hacked them up and combined them with these.

I can power the bluetooth off the headphones so I never need to charge them, and have a push button switch to turn them off. What I don't have is any other buttons, or the mic. so they are only good for playing music.

I want more. I want to have all the buttons and mic outside in the headphones so I can use them.
But this bluetooth set up is not really set to allow me to unsolder the buttons and mic to remote locate them.

Does anyone know of a pair of bluetooth stereo headphone I can find and tare apart so I can trick my headphones out fully and not just partially. My area inside the headphones can fit a little circuit board but that is about it. (Maybe about 2x3 inches. and only one board thick.)

If this is the wrong place to ask, a link to the right place would be much appreciated.

p.s. I just bought the pair on tech.woot and I can't wait to get my hands on them. (I will probaly buy a not working set from ebay before I go braking up my nice newly refurbished set.

Do I want an extended warranty? Why, I'm just going to void it anyway.

Would these work for me while singing at the Riverside Robot Expo in November?

What I mean is, can I use these with a PA amp?

According to a review on Amazon, these auto power off after 30 minutes if no sound is being played through them and you have to manually turn them back on. Deal breaker for me.

CNET Review

"There are times when you can't quite believe what you're hearing. Little speakers' bass limitations are a fact of life, but Audyssey's Lower East Side Media Speakers can generate considerably more bass punch than I've heard from any speaker of this size and price. Beyond the bass, the sound was lively and fun; I really enjoyed spending time with these speakers.
The Audyssey Web site lists the price at $249.99 a pair, but Amazon sells 'em for $199.95."

i will be giving it a shot, the 30 minute timer does not bother me to much because for the most part im either playing music, or playing games, and i don't see there being a problem... looks like for the price it can't be beat in my situation, in for one pair

LOL @ all those who claim the auto off is a "deal breaker". Yes, having to hit a button to turn my speakers back on...after 30 minutes of inactivity (which means you arent using them ANYHOW) is such a STRAIN!! Wow! What a bunch of lazy pansies we have become!

I have been looking for a good 2.0 system to replace my Logitech 5.1 system. I am having channel pop-outs and don't use the sub all that much.

One thing I will add about the auto-turn off feature. I do agree that there should be a auto-on too, but I think I will enjoy the auto-off:

I measured the current draw on my Logitech speakers and they draw over a half amp. That is like leaving a 60 watt bulb on all the time.

Important to note that the reviewer was using the 3.5mm input on all the speakers. This is not the strong suit of these speakers FWIW.

Anyone know if the power supply input is rated to handle 110 - 220 volts? If so, I'd like to take a pair to Europe and just use a plug adapter.

The auto shut off isn't a deal breaker for me. Does anyone know how these compare to the Klipsch Pro Media 2.1's? I've had that set for 5 years now without any issue.

But it was an analog connection from a DAC that is probably better than what most people have in their computers.

Keep the Klipsch 2.1's.

IMO.. Pioneer SP-BS21-LR + mini amp is a better deal for $71.89 shipped

(I have Klipsch 2.1's on the main home PC, w/ the pioneer bookshelf's in my room.. Along w/ these)

The Klipsch 2.1's are DEFINITELY going to give you more bass.

not sure what you're asking.. They'll be shipped together, carefully, lol?

Since it's labeled as new it should be in original packaging from manufacturer.

Everything shuts off automatically when you don't use it. My Apple TV, my computer, even
my TV shuts off automatically. It's saving energy...being green. The speakers don't shut off unless they aren't being used and they kick major A$$!

The thing is, I'm still "using" my speakers if I'm using my computer, even if there's no audio playing. What about audio notifications? If they turned off only when I put my computer to sleep, there'd be no problem, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

They show these speakers with a TV. We were going to buy a soundbar are these any good for using with a TV?

I was thinking about getting these for use with my secondary TV, but the auto-shutoff sort of kills it for me. I mean, I don't mind that they shut off (or go into standby or whatever) after 30 minutes of silence, but if they don't come back on without a button press that means they won't really fit with my TV.

Not a deal breaker for a computer, but it kind of is if you want to use it with a TV, as far as I'm concerned. I might still get a set anyway, but I can't use them how I would really like to because of it.

Any idea how these might work in a 12X18 carpeted living room? Want to set up an old laptop to stream music files from other computers and have reasonable quality sound in that area of the house. Don't know much about speakers, but I do know that the Bose Companion II setup we have downstairs is awesome loud (but almost 3x the price of this $80 deal....)Any comparison between the two?

I already own a pair of these. Paid $200 for them. Well worth it. I picked up another pair just because. They are a steal at this price. I'll probably end up giving them to someone as a gift.
