Has anyone ever heard of a derecho before this? Honestly, the weather people are in a constant state of panic. Every spring they say it's going to be a bad year for hurricanes. It hasn't for the past two or three years. This past week the CDC warned to get used to killer heat waves. Since when did the CDC get into weather forecasting? An outfit, by the way, that is also running around in a constant state of panic.

Some days are a total waste of makeup.

Seems it is a prolonged straight line wind.
With all the rain we have had, that wouldn't do well with the trees.
With the hurricane, there wasn't that much rain. Easier for the trees to stay put if the ground is dry.

I can't decide if high winds are worse during the day when you can see the trees leaning or at night when you can just hear the wind and not know what it's doing.

Life magazine deemed the Poconos as such in the early 60s..

Please let me hold onto that as the area's claim to fame, the only other thing here would be Nascar... and heart shaped bathtubs and champagne glass hot tubs are infinitely more fun.

oh yeah, we have rain and thunder too.. everyone be sure to rush to the store for their eggs, milk and bread.. nothing says weathering the storm like making french toast.

It only lasted here an hour or 2... nothing earth shattering.

But we are supposed to get the larger storm later on in the day.

Hoping to not be affected at home, but the office to lose power to the weekend.

we can be hopeful, right?

What was the name of the place with the champagne glass tubs?
Was it beautiful Mt Aire lodge?

I think it was just Cove Haven...

Mt Airy had heart shaped tubs, and a lack of updates since the 70s..

also take a look at This page , scroll down to the bottom of the page for a few galleries to show how it looked when it was closed down, before being reborn as a casino.

My living room is a flying monkey/leakfrog/robosapian shrine.

Robosapian is a dino from my first bofc.
It doesn't work. Won't respond to the remote control, other than to go forward.
Of course, there was NO packing in the bofc and the tail is broken. Maybe it worked when he left the wearhouse.

The other Rusty just passed the house. His owner rides a bike to excerise him.
The dog did check to see if my Rusty was in the yard.

The other Rusty is a young golden. With a mean streak!
The owner is a vol fireman. The puppy (full grown, but still a puppy) was abandoned at the firehouse.

It didn't take the guy long to figure out why.
Dog is nasty! At least with other dogs.

He tried. Took new Rusty to the dog park, where he started tons of fights.
When my Rusty returned to the dog park after his operation, we heard all about "new" Rusty. They never saw a nasty golden puppy!

I already knew, because "new" Rusty didn't get along with any dogs in the park up the block.

Now the owner gave up socializing. He exercises him by riding his bike. Sometimes they just walk him.
I guess the dog is OK with people. There are kids in the family. Grade school age.

Dog is damn lucky this guy is committed to him!

I thought it was me, but son couldn't get him to do anything other than walk forward and roar.
It wouldn't need the complicated remote that it came with, if that was all it did.

Ours worked, Ver1, who was 2 at the time, named it Sarah. It mostly collects dust now as the thing needs 20 batteries or something to work for a couple hours. Still it is fun from time to time.
